1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to the website plumber-plumbers.co.za, operated under the Plumb A Nator brand. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean the business operating this website. Read this policy with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle enquiries, bookings, orders and other personal information.

2. What cookies and similar technologies do

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They can remember a session, recognise a returning browser or record a preference. Session cookies normally expire when the browser session ends; persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.

Pixels, script tags and browser storage can also collect or store information. A tracking script can send information to its provider even when no cookie is saved. This policy covers those technologies as well as cookies.

3. Types of technology used on the website

• Essential functionality and security: technologies supporting secure access, abuse prevention and website operation. Shopping-cart, checkout and account features may require session cookies when you use them.
• Preferences and support: technologies that remember settings or maintain a chat conversation when chat is available.
• Analytics: technologies that help us understand page use, navigation and difficulties visitors encounter.
• Advertising measurement: technologies that help measure visits associated with advertisements and support advertising audiences.

The technologies encountered depend on the page visited, the features used, browser settings and the providers enabled at the time.

4. Analytics, advertising and chat providers

Meta Pixel

The policy-page template includes Meta Pixel. It sends a page-view event to Meta and can support advertising measurement and audience matching. Information can include the page address, browser or device details and network information. If Meta cookies are permitted, browser identifiers such as _fbp may be used. Meta may associate activity with other information it holds under its own policies.

Microsoft Clarity

The template includes Microsoft Clarity, an analytics service that can provide heatmaps and session recordings to help identify navigation and usability problems. Clarity cookies include _clck, which recognises a browser across visits, and _clsk, which connects page views into a session. Do not enter passwords, payment-card details or sensitive personal information into general enquiry or chat fields.

Tidio chat

The template includes a Tidio chat script. When enabled, chat may use browser storage or cookies to recognise a visitor and maintain a conversation. Messages and contact details you choose to submit are also processed to provide support. The information available to Tidio depends on the integration and your interactions.

Google Analytics, where enabled

Where a page loads Google Analytics, it can measure visits and interactions using cookies such as _ga and _ga_<identifier>. Google documents a default lifetime of two years for these cookies; configuration can change that period. A reference or connection hint to Google Analytics does not by itself establish that its tracking script runs on every page.

5. Cookie names and lifetimes

The names above are examples associated with the named services, rather than a complete inventory of cookies currently stored in your browser. Cookies and storage entries can change with provider updates, configuration, consent choices and the features you use. Security, account, cart and checkout cookies may differ from those on ordinary information pages. You can inspect actual names, domains and expiry dates using your browser’s developer tools or site-data settings.

6. Information these technologies can collect

Depending on the service, information may include a browser identifier, IP address, device and browser characteristics, pages visited, referring links, visit times and interactions such as clicks or scrolling. Chat and enquiry information is supplied directly by you. Cookie identifiers and usage information may constitute personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), particularly when linked to an identifiable person.

Cookie expiry and server-side retention are different: deleting a cookie does not automatically delete information already received by us or a provider. Our Privacy Policy explains the broader handling of personal information.

7. Your choices

You can use browser settings to block cookies, restrict third-party cookies, delete existing cookies and clear site storage. Check the privacy or site-data settings in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. Clearing cookies can sign you out, remove saved preferences or empty a shopping session. Private browsing does not prevent every tracking request.

If a cookie preference panel is displayed, use it to select or change the optional categories offered. This policy does not itself provide a preference panel or guarantee that scripts are blocked before a choice is made. Continuing to browse should not be treated as an express consent choice for optional tracking.

Where processing relies on your consent, you may withdraw that consent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Contact us if you need help exercising your rights. To stop future requests immediately, browser tracking protection or a content blocker may also be needed: disabling cookies alone does not block all scripts.

8. Third-party websites and overseas processing

Links to WhatsApp, Facebook, payment services or other websites take you to services governed by their own privacy and cookie policies. Loading an embedded third-party service can also send information to its provider. Providers may process information outside South Africa. Where POPIA applies, cross-border transfers must meet its applicable requirements, including section 72.

We may update this policy when website technologies, providers or applicable requirements change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Please review it when you want to understand the website’s current disclosures.
